knoxville engagement photographer | Tips for your Engagement Session

Are you and your partner getting ready for your engagement session? As a Knoxville engagement photographer I know this is such an exciting time as you get to capture beautiful, romantic and timeless photographs of you both before your big day! Here are 5 tips to help you make the most of your engagement session and create stunning photographs that you’ll treasure forever.

1. Get Personal

Choosing a location that holds sentimental value to you and your partner, whether it’s the place where you first met, had your first date, or got engaged, will add an extra special touch to your photographs. Maddie and Jathyn decided to do seasonal engagements. Their first session was at their future wedding venue on the beautiful property of Whitestone Inn and their second session was more cozy and relaxed in Downtown, Knoxville. We explored some of their favorite date night spots and of course took a photo in front of the iconic Tennessee Theater sign.

2. Dress to Impress

This is your chance to showcase your personal style and create photographs that are uniquely you. Don’t be afraid to dress up and bring out your inner diva! If you need some inspiration for what to wear to your session, feel free to check out this Pinterest mood board. Some brands I encourage for my clients are Nothing Fits But, Morning Lavender, and if you’re looking to rent a dress of your dreams, check out Dalliance Bespoke.

3. Get your Nails, Hair, and Makeup Done

It’s not every day you get professional photos done, entrusting your hair and makeup to a professional is a game-changer for your engagement photo session. Not only will it take away the added stress of doing it yourself, but it guarantees that your makeup will be camera-ready, resulting in the best possible photographs. Trust us, it’s a no-brainer!

4. Make sure You’re on Time

Time is of the essence! Arriving on schedule is crucial for your engagement session. As a photographer who prefers to shoot using natural light, the availability of light is limited by the sun’s movement. Every minute lost at the beginning of the shoot is a minute lost of shooting with the sun, and that time cannot be regained. My goal is to ensure that you are able to relax, savor the experience, and make the most of the time we have planned without feeling rushed.
